How small a baby is this for?

Check the weight and age range printed on the label sewn into the shirt and in the instructions before the first use, and do not use it outside that range. Whatever the baby's size, the rules are the same every single time: face uncovered and turned to the side, chin off the chest with room to breathe, close enough to kiss, and a look every few minutes. If you cannot see the face, reposition.

Which size do I take?

Go by your chest measurement, not by the size you usually wear, because the pouch has to sit where it sits regardless of the rest of the shirt. The size chart covers 35 to 44 in of chest across S to XL. Both the Mom and the Dad version run on the same measurements, so a couple can order two different sizes of the same shirt and get the same fit around the pouch.

Can I nurse with the baby in the pouch?

There is access without changing tops, yes. And one instruction that is not optional: reposition the baby after every feed, back up to the carrying position with the face clear and the chin off the chest. A baby left low in the pouch after feeding is the single situation every carrier guide warns about.

What can I actually do while wearing it?

Laundry, email, making the bed, walking around the house, standing in a queue. Not cooking, and we are going to be blunt about that even though every listing in this category says otherwise: a hob and a newborn strapped to your chest do not go in the same sentence. Not driving either, and not while exercising. If your hands need to be near heat or speed, take the baby out first.

4.8 out of 5. Individual experiences may vary

Put it on, slid him in, done. I had spent three weeks failing at a wrap before this.

I got the Dad version and it is the first thing since she was born that I can do and my wife cannot do better.

Measured my chest like the page says instead of guessing my usual size. Fits exactly where it needs to.

Sound familiar?

If you have not eaten a meal sitting down since Tuesday...

Down for a minute, crying in ten seconds

The only place they settle is your chest, and you have things that need both hands.

The wrap is still in the box

Five yards of fabric, a video you have watched twice, and a baby who is not going to wait.

Only one of you can do it

One parent learns the carrier, the other hovers. Two weeks in, nobody is taking turns.

Two Versions, One Pouch. Nothing to Tie.

How it is cut, how it is sized and what is in the box. Individual experiences may vary.

We bought one each. It is the only baby thing in this house that both of us actually use.

Questions, answered

Everything you might be wondering

01How do I know the baby is positioned correctly?
Every time, before you let go and every few minutes after. The face has to be uncovered and turned to the side, never pressed into your body and never covered by fabric. The chin has to be off the chest with a clear gap, because a chin pressed down closes a newborn airway. High enough that you could kiss the top of the head without stooping. Back supported and legs out, not curled into a ball at the bottom of the pouch. Check the weight and age range printed on the label sewn into the shirt and in the instructions before first use, and do not use it outside that range. If you cannot see the face, take the baby out and start again.
02Which size do I take?
Measure your chest and go by that, not by the size you usually buy, because the pouch has to land in the right place on your torso regardless of how the rest of the shirt fits. The chart covers 35 to 44 in of chest across S to XL, with length between 25 and 27 in and sleeve between 22 and 25 in. The Mom and Dad versions run on the same measurements, which is the point: two people of different sizes get the same fit around the pouch. If you are between two sizes, take the smaller one, because a shirt that is too loose is a pouch that sits too low.
03Can I feed the baby while wearing it?
There is access without changing tops or taking the shirt off, yes. And here is the part that is not optional, so read it twice: reposition the baby after every single feed. Back up to the carrying position, face clear and turned to the side, chin off the chest. A baby left low and curled in the pouch after a feed is the situation that every carrier guide in the world warns about, and it is the reason this paragraph exists on the page instead of in a leaflet.
04What can I do while wearing it, and what should I not?
Do: laundry, email, tidying, making the bed, walking around the house, standing in a queue. Do not: cook. We know every listing in this category opens with a photo of someone stirring a pan, and we are not going to write that line. A hob, an oven door or a kettle and a newborn on your chest do not belong in the same room, let alone the same sentence. Also not while driving, not while cycling, not while exercising, and not while drinking anything hot. If your hands need to be near heat or speed, take the baby out first. That is the whole rule and it is not complicated.
05How do I wash it?
Machine wash on a low temperature with like colors, and that is genuinely it: it goes in with the rest of the wash rather than getting its own special cycle, which is half of why people end up using this instead of a wrap. Skip the fabric softener, which coats cotton and takes out some of the stretch the pouch depends on. Air dry or tumble dry low. Check the seams and the pouch fabric each time it comes out of the wash, and stop using it if you find a tear, a loose seam or fabric that has lost its stretch.
06What comes in the box?
One shirt, in the version, color and size you picked, with its instructions and its sewn-in labels. There is no second piece, no insert and no separate carrier: the pouch is part of the shirt, which is the entire idea. It is cotton, it stretches, and it wears like a plain tee once the baby is out of it, so it does not have to come off at the door.
07How does the guarantee work?
Every order is covered by our 100-day guarantee, counted from the day it arrives: wear it, wash it, live with it. Keep the baby's face uncovered and turned to the side at all times, with the chin off the chest and clear of your body, high enough to kiss. Check the position every few minutes and reposition after every feed. Never use it while cooking, driving, cycling, exercising or handling anything hot, and never while lying down or asleep. Inspect the seams and the pouch fabric before every use and stop using the shirt if anything is torn, loose or stretched out. Adult garment, cotton. Machine wash on a low temperature.
