  • Somewhere to put baby down-on the floor, in the room you are in, while you stay right there.
  • Tummy time that lasts longer-a raised edge gives little arms something to rest on.
  • The cover comes off and washes-double gauze cotton, straight into the machine.
Can a baby sleep in it?

No. This is for awake, supervised use only, never for sleep, and that is not a formality we are adding at the bottom of the page. If a baby falls asleep, move them to a crib, bassinet or play yard straight away. Never put it in an adult bed, a crib or a play yard, and never leave a baby in it unattended. If what you are looking for is something to put a baby down to rest in, this is not that product and we would rather lose the order than pretend otherwise.

So what do people actually use it for?

Tummy time, mostly. Then diaper changes, cuddles on the sofa with an adult holding on, and the ten minutes where you need to put the baby down somewhere in the room while you make a coffee with both hands. It is a comfortable spot on the floor for a baby who is awake and being watched.

How does it help with tummy time?

The edge is raised and padded, so instead of lying flat on a mat with nothing to push against, little arms have something to rest on and a bit of height to look out from. That usually buys you a few more minutes before the complaining starts, which in the first months is the whole game.

How do I wash the cover?

The cover is double gauze cotton and comes off completely, then goes in the machine on a cold gentle cycle. Everything that touches a newborn ends up needing a wash, so this is the part that decides whether you keep using the thing or it ends up in a cupboard. Air dry it rather than putting it through a hot dryer.

Cover came off in seconds and went through the wash twice in the first week. That was the whole reason I picked this one.

Bought it for my son and it lives in the living room. Somewhere to put him down while she has both hands free.

Sound familiar?

If you have not put the baby down with both hands free since Tuesday...

Tummy time lasts ninety seconds

Flat on a mat there is nothing to push against, so it turns into crying before it turns into practice.

Nowhere to put him down

The floor is hard, the sofa is not an option, and you are still holding him at four in the afternoon.

Everything needs washing

Milk, drool, and the one thing you bought has a cover that does not come off.

Awake Time, Watched. That Is the Whole Product.

Questions, answered

Everything you might be wondering

01Can a baby sleep in it?
No, and this is the most important line on the page. This lounger is for awake, supervised use only. It is never for sleep, of any kind, at any time of day. If a baby falls asleep in it, move them to a crib, bassinet or play yard right away. Never put the lounger inside a crib, bassinet, play yard or an adult bed. Never leave a baby in it unattended, and always use it on the floor rather than on a sofa, a bed, a table, a counter or any other raised surface. We know that a lot of people shopping in this category are hoping for something else, and we are not going to soften this to make the sale.
02What do people actually use it for?
Three things, in order. Tummy time, which is the main one. Diaper changes, because the padded base is more comfortable than a hard mat and the edges keep everything in one place. And the ordinary moments of a day at home with a small baby: a stretch on the floor in whichever room you are in, a spot on the sofa with an adult right there holding on, and the few minutes where you need both hands. It is a comfortable place for an awake baby who is being watched.
03How does it make tummy time easier?
Flat on a mat there is nothing to push against, so a small baby tires out and gets frustrated fast. The raised padded edge gives the arms something to rest on and lifts the chest slightly, which means less effort to hold the head up and a better view of the room. In practice that usually buys a few more minutes per session before the complaining starts. Build up gradually, a short session at a time, and stay down there with them.
04What age is it for?
Newborn to 12 months, for awake supervised use. Stop using it as soon as the baby can roll over on their own or push up on hands and knees, whenever that happens, because a baby who can move is a baby who can move out of it. As with anything in the first year, the milestone matters more than the number of months, so go by what your baby is doing rather than by the label.
05How do I wash the cover?
The cover is double gauze cotton and unfastens completely from the base. Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle, then air dry: a hot dryer shrinks gauze cotton and it does not come back. No bleach, no fabric softener. Wash it before first use, and then as often as you need, which with a newborn in the house is going to be often. This is the part that decides whether the thing stays in daily use or ends up in a cupboard.
06It arrives compressed. Is that normal?
Yes. It ships vacuum compressed to keep the box small, and it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to come back to its full shape once you open it. Give it a little longer if it has been in a cold delivery van. Like anything that has been sealed in plastic, it can smell of packaging for the first day or two: unzip the cover, leave it out in a room with the window open, and wash the cover before first use.
07How does the guarantee work?
Every order is covered by our 100-day guarantee, counted from the day it arrives: use it, wash it, live with it. If it is not right for you, reply to your order confirmation email with your order number and we will make it right. One-time purchase, no subscription and no automatic charges, ever. For processing times, delivery estimates, tracking and returns, see our Shipping Policy and Refund Policy pages, which are always the current version.
08What if it is not for me?
Try it risk-free. Use it for a couple of weeks, put the cover through a wash, and see whether it earns its place in the room. If it is not the one, just reach out and we are happy to help and make it right. One-time purchase, no subscription and no surprise charges.
