Which size do I order?
By foot length, not by age. Stand the baby on a sheet of paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, and measure between the marks. The five sizes are 4.2 to 4.5 in, 4.6 to 4.9 in, 5.0 to 5.3 in, 5.4 to 5.7 in and 5.8 to 6.1 in, which works out at roughly 5 to 9, 9 to 15, 15 to 21, 21 to 27 and 27 to 33 months. The months are a guide, the centimetres are the answer, and between two sizes take the larger one.
Does the sole really grip?
It is a TPR sole, flexible and stitched across the whole underside rather than a scatter of rubber dots printed onto knit. On hardwood, tile and laminate that is the difference between sliding and not sliding. It is soft enough to bend with the foot, so it does not walk like a hard shoe.
Do they actually stay on?
That is the elastic cuff, and it is the reason people buy these instead of another pack of socks. They come on and off when you want them to and not when the baby decides to kick. If you have been finding socks behind the sofa for a month, this is the part that fixes it.
Should a baby wear anything on their feet indoors?
Honestly, not always. The usual advice for a baby at home is bare feet whenever the floor allows it and it is warm enough, because that is how small feet learn to balance. These are for the rest of the time: a cold floor, a slippery one, a visit to a house that is neither. We are selling grip and warmth, not development, and anyone telling you a sock builds a foot is selling you something.
Wood floors all through the flat and he used to go down on every corner. These stay put on his feet and on the floor.

We were losing a sock a day. Two weeks in these and we have not lost one.

Measured her foot on paper like the page says. The size was right first time, which never happens.

If you are finding socks behind the sofa every single day...
Plain socks slide on wood
Knit on laminate has no grip at all, and you can see it the moment they get moving.

You put them on in the hallway and find one of them under a chair before lunch.
The rubber dots peel off
Three washes and the grip is cracked, half missing, and stuck to the inside of the drum.

Questions, answered
Everything you might be wondering
01How do I work out the right size?
Measure the foot, do not guess from the age. Stand the baby on a sheet of paper with the heel against a wall, mark the end of the longest toe, and measure from the wall to the mark. Do both feet, because they are often not the same, and use the longer one. The five sizes run 10.6 to 11.5 cm, 11.6 to 12.5, 12.6 to 13.5, 13.6 to 14.5 and 14.6 to 15.5, which is 4.2 to 4.5 in, 4.6 to 4.9, 5.0 to 5.3, 5.4 to 5.7 and 5.8 to 6.1. Roughly that is 5 to 9 months, 9 to 15, 15 to 21, 21 to 27 and 27 to 33, but the months are only a guide. Between two sizes take the larger one: at this age the foot grows faster than anything else you are buying for.
02What is the sole actually like?
TPR, which is a flexible rubber compound, stitched across the whole underside rather than printed on in dots. That matters in two ways. On hardwood, tile and laminate it grips instead of sliding, which is the reason you are on this page. And because it is flexible, it bends with the foot rather than holding it flat, so the foot still moves and still feels the floor underneath. It is a sole that goes where the foot goes, not a shoe that decides for it.
03Do they stay on better than socks?
Yes, and it is the elastic cuff at the ankle that does it rather than anything clever. A plain sock has nothing holding it past the heel, which is why it ends up under the sofa within the hour. These sit above the ankle and hold there, so they come off when you pull them off. If your actual daily problem is hunting for the other sock, that is the part of this product that changes your day.
04Does a baby need anything on their feet indoors?
Often not, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. The usual advice for a baby at home is bare feet whenever the floor allows it, clean and warm enough, because that is how small feet learn to grip and balance. What these are for is the rest of the time: a cold floor in the morning, a slippery one, a visit somewhere that is neither. So what we are selling you is grip and warmth, and that is all we are selling you. We are not going to tell you a sock shapes a foot or does anything for how they walk, because it does not, and anyone in this category who tells you otherwise is selling you something.
05How do I wash them?
Machine wash them with the rest of the laundry, cold or warm, and air dry. That is the whole instruction, and it is deliberate: anything that needs hand washing at this stage of your life is not going to get washed. Skip the hot dryer, which is what hardens the sole and shrinks the knit. Check the sole each time they come out, especially around the edge where it meets the upper, and stop using them if it starts to lift or separate anywhere.
06What are they made of, and what comes in the pack?
A knit upper with a TPR sole stitched to it, and one pair per pack. The upper is soft and stretchy so it pulls on over the heel in one motion, the cuff is elastic, and the sole covers the whole underside from heel to toe. Five colors. The full fiber content and the country of origin are printed on the label sewn into the pair.
07How does the guarantee work?
Every order is covered by our 100-day guarantee, counted from the day it arrives: wear them, wash them, live with them. If they are not right for you, reply to your order confirmation email with your order number and we will make it right. One-time purchase, no subscription and no automatic charges, ever. For processing times, delivery estimates, tracking and returns, see our Shipping Policy and Refund Policy pages, which are always the current version.
08What if it is not for me?
Try them risk-free. Put them on for a week and through a wash before you decide. If the size is wrong or they are simply not the one, just reach out and we are happy to help and make it right. One-time purchase, no subscription and no surprise charges.
Put them on for a week, run them through the machine once, and see how the sole holds up. If the size is wrong or they are not for you, we have got you, no hassle and no fuss. One-time purchase, no subscription, ever.
Children's footwear for indoor use, with adult supervision. Size by foot length rather than by age, and check the fit often, since feet at this age grow quickly. Check the sole and the seams before each wear and stop using the pair if the sole lifts, separates or wears through. Not intended for outdoor walking. Fiber content and country of origin are printed on the label sewn into the pair. Individual experiences may vary. Machine wash and air dry.
